CHACALA 17 MARCH 2007

PHOTOS: View of Chacala from the volcano, Anthony & Luc digging to China, On the boat, Luc & Ananstasia.
I can feel the tequila when I wake up in the morning and is seriously thinking of cancelling the trip up the volcano – but it was a promise to Luc. So we all suffer up the many hills to the top (Luc of course makes sure that Anthony and Chris are close to assist – on their shoulders!). After an hour (although it felt like hours) we are in the crater, which is now a meadow where the goats roam. It is about another 30 minutes down to the other side, where we eventually reach a little private beach set in an alcove. It is so beautiful. The water is crystal clear and we can see the schools of little fish swimming around. We swim and tan and chat. By one we are all starving and there are no signs of the water taxis. By 1.30 Doug organises with a local to take 3 of us on his little boat back to the resort. About 5 minutes later the water taxis finally arrive. By this time we are really hungry. Back to the harbour and still the 10 minute walk to the resort! Luc goes off with Chris so show him his school. When the eventually get to the rest, I hear that Luc told Chris how great the ice creams in town are, so they both ended up with an ice cream! One of the guests earlier said to me that she thinks Luc is going to be a president one day, because he can persuade you to do whatever he wants to do, but in such a way that you think it was your idea! The power is off and we cannot work, so we opt for an afternoon sleep. I go up to the office and do an hour of writing text for the brochure. Dinner is very quiet, the new pilates group has arrived and there are some serious bodies in the group! We watch the most beautiful movie, Baraka (meaning blessing). It is a cinegraphic tour of scenes all over the world with no text, just amazing music. Luc is wide awake so we watch another movie and eventually get to bed very late.
